Asia Cup 2025: Team India has been announced for Asia Cup 2025, and it includes some big names. Shreyas Iyer is also included in this list. Iyer has consistently performed well in all three formats of domestic cricket for some time now, but despite this, he has not been given a chance in Team India. In such a situation, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar has answered this.

Shreyas also played well while playing for Punjab in IPL 2025, but even after this he was not included in the team. Iyer did not get a chance in the Test series against England before this, and now he is also out of the Asia Cup. Earlier, he was seen playing in the Champions Trophy for Team India.

Ajit Agarkar replied about Shreyas Iyer

Team India for Asia Cup 2025 was announced by Ajit Agarkar and captain Suryakumar Yadav through a press conference. Shubman Gill has returned to this team as vice-captain. However, Iyer has failed to make a place in the team, and in such a situation, Agarkar has answered why Iyer has been dropped from the team.

Responding during the press conference, Agarkar said, "It is very bad that Shreyas Iyer was not selected. It is not Iyer's fault that he was not selected for the team, but it is not our fault either. He will have to wait for his chance, and when the time comes, Shreyas will get a chance."

Iyer's tremendous performance in IPL 2025

Shreyas performed brilliantly in IPL 2025. He played 17 matches and scored 604 runs at an average of 50.33. During this, 6 half-centuries came off his bat, while his strike rate was 175. Under his captaincy, the Punjab team also played the final but had to face defeat against Bangalore.
